The last few months have been crazy, busy, hectic, and rewarding in my both my personal and creative life as I've highlighted below.

I joined the Cottonwood Artists organization and have been enjoying my time in their live model opportunities. There is nothing as challenging as working from a living breathing and twitching human being. I also had the experience of exhibiting my work in their portrait and figure show.

Speaking of twitching models. . . I have taken every opportunity to sketch on site at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo this summer, often dragging my niece Ashley with me. It's quite humbling to be face to face with a tiger, knowing there is nothing but a sketchbook, pencil, and glass to keep you from falling to the bottom of the food chain.

I celebrated two commission pieces: A portrait of a striking and strong woman and a scene of elk located near Gunnison, Colorado. The portrait is finished and the elk are nearing completion.

My classes at the Senior Center continue to be a delight and helped me celebrate my birthday (the big 60) in June. The end of summer classes and the beginning of fall classes are around the corner.

One of my fantasy sea creatures, an Indian Mermaid, went to a new home after a successful charity auction for the Center. Great cause, and a wonderful time at the fundraiser.

In June I joined the Pikes Peak Water Color Society. The Society promotes watercolor excellence through shows, classes, and old fashion discussion and interaction.

I am continuing with the drawings and painting based on my time in Paris, and pieces I am doing for my classes. These are the highlights of my recent artistic life as I continue to learn and develop as an artist.

Many thanks to those who have inspired and supported my quest to figure out what I will do with the next sixty years of my life. Students, family, friends, and clients--you keep me moving ahead.
